It was a very busy week. Dad was finishing up re-roofing the house, the whole family had helped out and some friends (including Adam) had come to pitch in as well; I was getting ready to head to Michigan for ten days of orientation at Gull Lake Ministries where I would be working later that summer at the family camp; and, Riley Children's Hospital had called on Monday night saying that a kidney was available for my younger sister's transplant. After the Wednesday evening prayer service I was talking with some friends waiting on Beth to head home. As the conversation was wrapping up Adam handed me an envelope simply saying, "I have something for you too." and walked away. I just assumed that the letter contained an encouragement note...maybe something ministry related...you know, stuff a church intern would be required to do. So after getting in the car and starting on the way home I opened the envelope to find a page of notebook paper filled with writing.
I’m having a hard time trying to nail down a good starting point so why not the beginning! I was born March 19th… just kidding; I won’t go that far back. Let’s start back in the fall of 2007, which is about one year and nine months ago for those of us who aren’t good with dates. Heading into the fall of 2007, I guess you could say I was in the process of finding a wife. Around this time (according to my journal entries) God kept me very content with life as I was just beginning an internship and looking forward to serving Him at church, but while at the same time thinking and praying over Proverbs 18:22, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.” Now at this time there really wasn’t anyone on the “radar”, but was certainly interested in finding a wife.
